Circo de las Estrella Borrachas

Circo de las Estrella Borrachas is the gallery title show book designed for sculpture artist Wesley Anderegg for his Summer 2023 exhibit at Hecho Gallery in Santa Fe, NM. The fictionalized pseudo-autobiography tells the tale of a 17 day journey beginning in Arizona, traveling through Mexico and ending in California where Anderegg now live, with each day being accompanied by it’s own sculpture.

I developed the visual identity and supporting graphics for Circo de las Estrella Borrachas, drawing from the energy and theatricality of a circus while creating a visual language that felt unexpected and contemporary. I researched historical circus graphics, typography, color, and illustrative references to identify elements that could be reinterpreted rather than directly replicated.

I explored how the concept could translate across typography, illustration, and supporting graphic elements, refining the visual system through iteration and experimentation. The final direction balanced a sense of spectacle and personality with a cohesive design system that could extend across the project’s various applications.
