I designed Lucca Finds a Home, a children’s picture book written by Christie Henry and illustrated by Jennifer Lake. Working closely with the authors, I helped establish the book’s format and visual direction, including recommending the book size and layout, sourcing typography and potential illustrators, and developing a project timeline and production plan.
I art directed the illustration process from initial sketches through final artwork, providing feedback and guiding revisions to ensure the illustrations supported the story. I selected a playful typeface with rounded characteristics that echoed the bubbly, friendly quality of the illustrations, then paired the typography with the artwork and story copy to create intentional pacing, visual hierarchy, and a cohesive reading experience.
